Playing a pivotal role in WW2 , from daring attacks on American ships to their unmatched long-range capabilities, the I-19 submarines left an indelible mark on naval history. Today we have I-19 Otsu Gata Submarine papercraft to share.
The I-19 Otsu Gata submarines were a remarkable class of Japanese submarines that served during World War II. One of the most iconic moments in the I-19’s history occurred during the Battle of Guadalcanal in September 1942. In a daring attack, the I-19 fired six torpedoes at the USS Wasp, an American aircraft carrier. The torpedoes struck true, inflicting severe damage that ultimately led to the carrier’s sinking.
In another pivotal engagement during the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal in November 1942, the I-19 scored another triumph by sinking the USS North Carolina, a powerful US battleship. These victories showcased the submarine’s prowess and significantly impacted the Pacific Theater’s dynamics.
