Captain Phasma is a character from the Star Wars series. Phasma is a female individual who served in the first order and lived approximately thirty years after the Battle of Endor.

Phasma character made its first appearances in Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens which started showing on December 17th. Portrayed by Gwendoline Christie, she wore a reflective suit of armor similar to that of a stormtrooper.

In 1979 a horror film called Phantasm was released. The antagonist of the film is a silver sphere? And according to wiki Phasma character is based from that movie antagonist.
