I never had any love for any mascot character in any game I’ve played and I’m not sure why JRPG game loves to include mascot and children in their game-plot.

For example in Persona 3 they had that 10 year old boy joins them which I totally didn’t use.

In persona 4 they had Bear in suit dude which totally annoys me and I often skip whatever scene he had.
