Recently, a friend of mine invited me to visit Turkey, and when I asked her what’s great about the country, she mentioned the Sultan Ahmed Camii mosque.
Known as the Blue Mosque, it features stunning blue and white İznik interior tiles that make it a paradise for architecture enthusiasts and anyone who loves beautiful scenery.
I’d say it’s on par with iconic places like the Taj Mahal and the Eiffel Tower.
For a bit of history, the Blue Mosque was built between 1609 and 1616 during the rule of Ahmed I. Its külliye (complex) includes the founder’s tomb, a madrasah, and a hospice.
It’s also recognized as one of Turkey’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
The model is created by the Canon CJ papercraft website. I hadn’t visited their site in a while and only discovered this model after stopping by 3DZhimo.
It requires 30 pages of paper to build and is considered medium hard. The photos above show the same model built by a crafter from 3DZhimo.
