Sakata Gintoki is a character from the anime series Gintama. He’s introduced as a former rebel samurai living in a fictional version of 1860s Japan that’s been taken over and reshaped by aliens.
Hijikata Toshizō and Kintarō were used as models for Sakata Gintoki. While coming up with a name for the manga, Hideaki Sorachi’s editor said, “Do you think a silver samurai would be cool?” That comment inspired Sorachi to create the main character after deciding to call the series Gintama.
What we’ve got here today is a papercraft version of Gintoki made by Youlingke. The papercraft needs 8 sheets of paper to build. It’s full-scale at 5 cm tall and considered an advanced-level design.
